Day 107

I've adopted a hairstyle that's drastically more monastic than before. That is, no hair.

In other news: Money is a curse. It gives me the impulse to buy ridiculous things. Things like a Utilikilt (video). I guess the appeal really lies in the fact that a kilt offers the comfort and freedom of nudity (from the waist-down, at least), with only some of the social stigmatization.

I mean, I've gone skinny dipping before, and I must say, summer breezes never felt more amazing.

Day 65

I'm not quite the coffeehouse type. Maybe because I have this image of a goateed, cappuccino-sipping member of the intelligentsia as my archetypal model of "the coffeehouse type" in my mind. I'm pretty sure that such people do not exist in the reality that you and I occupy.

First off, I'm probably looking in the wrong place (a Starbucks), if the sighting of such a mythical beast is my yen. Looking around, it would appear that mere mortals frequent such an establishment as this. There is a definite lack of chess-playing, symphony-composing, revolution-fomenting bohemians in my midst. I'm disappointed.

Day 45

Today I cashed my paycheck. I promptly went to my nearest REI and blew it all on boots. When I got home, I started reading some reviews on the internet, and the general consensus seems to be that the Italians make a damn fine boot (or at least, the Romanian gypsy children that the Italians hire). Internet reviewers (with handles like "The Kilted Ranger," "Geologist Craig," and "White Mountain Pete") have variously described these boots as "bomb-proof" and "nearly indestructible."

I'm so stoked to go for a walk right now.
